Rules and regulations
Everyone is welcome at the libraries in Frederikshavn Municipality. Here, you can borrow books, films, games, and magazines for free if you are registered as a borrower.
You are also welcome to use the library’s facilities on-site, even if you are not registered as a borrower. For example, you can read newspapers and books, use our wireless internet, play with your children, do school assignments, or participate in events.
How do I become a borrower?
You can register as a borrower on the website using MitID.
Children and young people under 18 years old
If you are under 18, your parents/guardian must sign a form with MitID.

I don’t have MitID
If you don’t have MitID or need help to become a borrower, you can visit the library during staffed hours. Remember to bring your health card.
Borrower card and children’s borrower card
Your yellow health card is your borrower card. You can also get a library borrower card by contacting the library.
You choose a four-digit PIN code when you register yourself or your child as a borrower. You need your code to borrow materials, access digital media, log into your profile on the website, and if you want to use the library during self-service hours.
Your borrower card is personal, and you are responsible for what is borrowed on the card.
Children’s borrower card
Children can get a special children’s borrower card for the library. Contact the staff during staffed hours and bring the child’s health card. It is free to get a children’s borrower card.
Lost borrower card
If your borrower card is lost, you must report it to the library, which will block the card. If you do not inform the library, you are still financially responsible if your card is misused. A new borrower card costs 15 kroner.
I forgot my PIN code
If you forget your PIN code, you can create a new one by logging into your profile with MitID.
You can also contact the staff during staffed hours to change the PIN code. Remember to bring identification.
Login problems
I have entered my PIN code incorrectly
If you enter your PIN code incorrectly three times, your login will be blocked for 20 minutes. This applies to all places where you need to log in with your library login:
- Login at the library outside staffed hours
- Library lending machines
- The Library app, eReolen, and bibliotek.dk
The library’s own website
I forgot my pin code
If you forget your PIN, you can create a new one yourself by logging in to your profile with MitID.
You can also contact the staff during the staffed opening hours to have the PIN code changed. Remember identification.
My borrower card is blocked
Your borrower card will be blocked if you owe 220 kroner or more in fees, or if you repeatedly return damaged materials.
The block can be lifted when you have paid the owed amount and/or returned or replaced the borrowed materials.
There may also be other reasons why your borrower card is blocked. In that case, contact the staff.
How long can I borrow materials?
- The loan period is usually 28 days.
- Some materials have a 14-day loan period, such as quick loans and magazines. Craft magazines can be borrowed for 28 days.
- You cannot borrow the latest issue of magazines, but you are welcome to read them at the library.
- You can see when you need to return your materials on your loan receipt, under your profile on the website, and in the library app Biblioteket.
- In most cases, you can renew your loans up to three times if there are no reservations on the material. Quick loans cannot be renewed.
- You can renew your loans on the website under your profile or in the library app Biblioteket.
- Note that if you return or renew late, a fee will be charged. Read more about fees here.

What happens if I return materials late?
You must pay a fee if you return or renew materials after the loan period has expired. Read more about fees here.
Can I renew materials if the loan period has expired?
You can renew materials after the loan period has expired if the material is not reserved by others and there is no bill yet. Note that you still have to pay a fee from the day you exceeded the loan period until you renew the material. You can renew your material on the website when you are logged in or in the library app Biblioteket.
If you renew several materials at the same time and before the return deadline, they will have the same return date, even if they were borrowed at different times and have different return deadlines and loan periods.
Reminders via SMS, email, or app
You can sign up for our notification service, where you receive an SMS and/or email three days before you need to return materials. However, it is always your responsibility to return borrowed materials on time, even if a reminder is not sent as expected.
You can opt for reminders via SMS and email under your profile on the website. Remember to update your information if you change your email or phone number.
The library app "Biblioteket"
You can also download the library app, where you can keep track of your loans and reservations. In the app, you can also borrow books, get inspired, and see upcoming events. Read more about the library app here. Read more about the library app "Biblioteket" here.
Replacement fees
You are responsible for the materials you have borrowed. Therefore, you are obliged to pay compensation for borrowed materials if they are lost or damaged. We consider material lost if it is not returned within five weeks after the loan period has expired. Read more about replacements here.
Refunds
You can get a refund for the replacement amount if you find a material, return it within four months, and can present a receipt for the payment of the replacement. We do not refund additional charges and billing fees.
How do I pay fees?
You pay fees and replacements on "Mit betalingsoverblik" via frederikshavn.dk.
Can I lose the right to borrow?
You risk losing the right to borrow if:
- Borrowed materials are not returned repeatedly.
- You owe 220 kroner or more in fees.
- You repeatedly return damaged materials.
We will notify you of the block in a letter. The block can be lifted when you have paid the owed amount and/or returned or replaced the borrowed materials.
Damage to equipment
The library assumes no responsibility if borrowed materials damage your PC, programs, or playback equipment. You are responsible for checking the material for errors and defects before borrowing and returning it.
Video surveillance
Please note that the library is under video surveillance.
House rules
Everyone should have a good experience when using the library. Therefore, we expect everyone to respect good order. You can be expelled or excluded from the library for a period if you break the rules or do not follow the staff’s instructions.
- Use of the library is at your own risk.
- Your stay at the library must not be a nuisance to others. Show consideration and clean up after yourself.
- You must not use someone else’s borrower card to gain access during self-service hours. If you bring others into the library during self-service hours, you are responsible for them and their actions.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Scooters, bicycles, roller skates, and similar items are not allowed.
- It is not allowed to consume or sell intoxicants on library premises. This includes drugs, alcohol, and nicotine products such as chewing tobacco and snuff, Puff Bars, etc.
- PCs and the wireless internet must be used in accordance with the library’s general purpose: information, education, and cultural activity. Searching for illegal material or exposing pornographic or very violent images falls outside the library’s purpose.
- Copying from the internet is subject to copyright rules. It is your responsibility to ensure that the rules are followed. Use of information, programs, and services that you seek or copy on the internet is at your own risk.
